The body of work that I have prepared for the SURFACE exhibition is inspired by recent travels to North America and reflects the deep impression made on me by the stunning scenery of Vancouver Island.
I travelled to Canada in March of this year 2022. It was still cold. The weather quite grey. But all felt fresh and clean and green. I was struck by the beauty of the trees with their distinctive outlines on the skyline and their parallel repetitiveness at the edge of the road. The expanse of the place. The clarity of the air. The relationship between the islanders and the sea. These observations have informed and inspired my work.
All the paintings in the Surface exhibition are framed:
Wooden frame in ivory white for 800x400mm
Wooden frame with slip in ivory white for 1200x600mm
